Terms & Conditions

Everything you need to know about ordering, deposits, collection and delivery.

Last updated: 5 November 2026

1. About these terms

These terms apply to every order placed with Dia's Cakes, a home bakery in Eastbourne, East Sussex. By placing an order or paying a deposit, you agree to them. If you have any questions, email diascakes20@gmail.com before you order.

2. Orders and quotes

  • Celebration cakes and wedding orders are made to order. Send your request through the website, by email or on Instagram, and I'll reply with a quote.
  • Prices on the website are starting prices. Your final price depends on size, flavours and design, and is confirmed in your quote.
  • A quote is held for 14 days. Your order is only confirmed once I've received your deposit or full payment.
  • Please allow at least 5 days for macarons, 2 weeks for celebration cakes and 3–12 months for weddings. Shorter notice may be possible, so just ask.

3. Deposits and payment

  • A 50% deposit secures your date. The balance is due 7 days before collection or delivery.
  • Macaron boxes and recipe downloads are paid in full when you order.
  • If the balance isn't paid on time, I may treat the order as cancelled.
  • Card payments are processed securely by Stripe.

4. Changes and cancellations

  • Small changes to flavours or design are welcome up to 14 days before your date for cakes, and up to 4 weeks before for weddings, as long as they don't change the price. Bigger changes may need a new quote.
  • Celebration cakes: if you cancel more than 14 days before your date, I'll refund your deposit minus any costs already spent on your order. With 14 days' notice or less, the deposit can't be refunded.
  • Weddings: deposits are non-refundable, but can be moved to a new date once, subject to availability.
  • Because cakes and desserts are perishable and made to your specification, the 14-day cooling-off period for online orders doesn't apply.
  • In the unlikely event I have to cancel your order, you'll receive a full refund.

5. Design and appearance

  • Every cake is handmade, so colours, flowers and details may vary slightly from photos or inspiration pictures. I'll always stay true to the agreed design.
  • Fresh fruit and flowers are seasonal, so I may use a close alternative if something isn't available.
  • Some decorations aren't edible, such as flowers, dried grasses, ribbons, cake boards and the dowels that support tiered cakes. Please remove them before serving.
  • I love sharing my work, so I may photograph your order for my portfolio or Instagram. If you'd prefer I didn't, just let me know.

6. Allergies

My kitchen handles gluten (wheat), eggs, milk, nuts (including almonds, pistachios and hazelnuts), peanuts, soya and sesame. All macarons contain almonds, egg and dairy. While every care is taken, I can't guarantee any product is free from allergens. It's your responsibility to tell me about allergies when you order, and to make sure your guests know what's in the cake.

7. Collection and delivery

  • Collection is from Eastbourne (BN23), at the time we agree. Please bring a flat, clean space in your car, such as the boot or footwell. A seat isn't flat enough.
  • Local delivery is available within 15 miles of Eastbourne: £8 up to 5 miles, then £1 per extra mile. Wedding delivery and set-up are included within 15 miles; further afield is quoted by venue.
  • Someone must be available to receive a delivery. If I can't deliver because no one is there, re-delivery may be charged.
  • Once an order has been collected or handed over, it becomes your responsibility. I can't be responsible for damage caused by transport, heat or handling after that.

8. Posted macarons

  • Small boxes of macarons and seasonal collections can be posted within the UK, using a tracked service.
  • I pack every box carefully, but couriers occasionally cause delays. I can't be responsible for delays once a parcel has been handed to the courier.
  • If your macarons arrive damaged, send me a photo within 24 hours of delivery and I'll put it right.

9. Storage

Keep cakes in a cool place, or in the fridge if they contain fresh cream, cream cheese or fruit, and take them out about an hour before serving. Macarons are best kept in the fridge in their box and enjoyed at room temperature within 3 days. I'll give you specific advice with your order.

10. Recipe downloads

  • Recipes are digital downloads in PDF format, available straight after payment.
  • By buying, you agree that the download starts immediately. This means you lose your right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations. If a file won't open or something's wrong, email me and I'll put it right.
  • Recipes are for your personal use only. Please don't share, resell or publish them. Photos of your bakes are very welcome, so tag @dia_s_cakes!

11. If something isn't right

I take great care with every order. If you're not happy, please contact me within 24 hours of collection or delivery, with photos and any remaining cake, so I can understand what went wrong. Complaints about taste or texture can't be accepted once most of the cake has been eaten. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.

My liability is limited to the price you paid for the order. I'm not responsible for anything outside my reasonable control, such as severe weather, illness or road closures. If that happens, I'll contact you as soon as possible to agree a new date or a refund.

12. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
